About the Local Food Challenge

The Local Food Challenge (LFC) is a public awareness campaign that challenges you to (re)discover the local food sources in your community, choose more local food, and share your local food experiences!

The LFC runs from August 12 to 28, 2016 and is open to residents of the counties of Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry (SDG), Prescott-Russell (PR), and the City of Cornwall & Area.

The LFC was developed to complement and highlight the many local food businesses, events, and initiatives within the SDG, PR, and city of Cornwall & Area community, including Green Food Box/Bag programs, community gardens, farmer’s markets, the PRSDG local food map and many others.

How It Works

  • You register yourself as a participant here by August 24, 2016.
  • You choose (pick, buy, & catch) more local food from August 12 to 28, 2016.
  • You can use our tracking form (coming soon!), your LFC account, or your own method to keep track of the date, location, and type of local food you choose (pick, buy, & catch) from August 12 to 28, 2016.
  • You can share your local food experiences, recipes, tips & more through LFC social media.
  • You are eligible to win prizes from local food businesses and programs simply by registering in the LFC. Your chance of winning increase if you register before August 12, 2016.
  • You sign-in to your LFC account on the LFC website to enter the date, location, and type of local food you chose (picked, bought, & caught) during the LFC by September 10, 2016.
  • You find out about new (to you) local food sources in SDG, PR, and the city of Cornwall & Area (e.g., farmer’s market, restaurant, community garden, or other local food program or business).
  • You find out about local food events in SDG, PR, and the city of Cornwall & Area.
